Nevada

In Washoe county schools in Reno, NV they are using a teacher evaluation form that is a revised Charlotte Danielson model with four standards: Lesson Planning, Classroom  environment/management, Instruction, and Professional responsibilities.

Additionally, they have a Professional Growth Program model, which is a teacher-driven evaluation model where the teacher selects one standard from above to focus on and create an in-depth program for his or her own professional development in that chosen area. The teacher provides a portfolio of his or her work supporting the plan and writes pre and post observation reflections on an observed lesson.

Teachers are also asked to provide evidence of student growth in their classrooms.  In the music area, they are developing district-wide common assessments in each of the music areas: band, choir, orchestra.

There also is an expectation that all teachers will have standards based lesson plans, and assessments (formative and summative).
