What a great age to do so much with interactive lessons! For prefab substitute lessons, that’s a little more difficult. It would take some prep time to put together a two day in depth lesson on a broad base of African American composers of different styles. I would recommend going to the Smithsonian Education Site where they have some plans and audio suggestions. http://www.folkways.si.edu/lesson-plans/smithsonian. Scroll down to North America 🙂 I would also recommend a site of African Music in Classical Music http://chevalierdesaintgeorges.homestead.com/ for some ideas outside of jazz composers. All the best!!
