My suggestion to teachers this year has been to focus on the CCSS Standards for Mathematical Practice http://www.corestandards.org/Math/Practice. Aside from the one that specifically states using math, they are so broad that any subject can use them. It’s a matter of developing a common language across the school building. I have also heard these referred to as “habits of mind” which is really probably more accurate than Standards for Mathematical Practice.
