I would have a long talk with my elementary feeder music teachers and ask to borrow some resources such as Orff arrangements and instruments, drums, and curricula. I found myself teaching both elementary general music and 2 high school chorus classes last year. Most of the students in the high school courses had not been in music classes since elementary school and needed to learn the fundamentals of music. I used many of the dances, vocal exercises, and percussive games I used at the elementary level to teach basic concepts. They LOVED it and looked forward to it every day. They were moving, singing rounds, dancing, and playing various instruments and were quite motivated because it was fun. Drum circles are a huge motivation and can teach a wide range of musical concepts while keeping the most reluctant student engaged. Beg and borrow from a colleague or church!

Best of Luck!
