My 5th graders LOVE making loops on the computer. Digital music is the current trend so I liked being able to teach them the musical dignity behind the music they hear. We watched lots of youtube clips of live mixing with loops and learned good structure. I would love to record our own loops instead of using the pre made ones in garage band, but we just didn’t have time. You might be able to spend more time with them and have them write a rap or something that has to do with something in the core subjects, or something as important as concert etiquette. It is a great group project, especially if you don’t have enough computers.
