I would recommend having her attend her lessons, read the music and listen to what the class is doing so she doesn’t get so far behind, and having her play an “imaginary trombone slide” with her right arm. She will still get the practice of reading the music and having the physical motion of the slide. This happened to me when I was a 5th grade trombone player, and although it was a bummer to not be able to play, the cast came off relatively quickly in the grand scheme of things (especially when lessons are only once a week). Hope she heals soon!
