As a choir teacher going on my 31st year in the same district I have been given the challenge of starting a 4th and 5th grade chorus. The choir will be meeting for a half hour ( not sure if the whole group or in smaller groups) and the meeting place – unfortunately – MAY be in the cafeteria ( though I am hoping to change that…wish me luck)! In any event, I was wondering if anyone had some ideas of repertoire for this age group. Some background: I believe that one of the grades has been involved in a choir program for a couple of years, and the other grade has been “pulled out” of their music class once in a while ). I have been teaching 7th and 8th grade choir up until this point, and will continue to do so next year, along with assisting the high school concert choir for the past 2 years. I’m just hoping that some of you who have had success with the 4th/5th grade choir can given me some suggestions based on the scenario I have been given. Thanks so much! Looking forward to some good info. to ease my nerves a bit. : )
