I see the Common Anchors along the sides of the chart for the new standards, but what do they represent? What is the definition of “Common Anchor #9” for example? I haven’t been able to find that. I love the set-up with Essential Questions and the way everything is broken down in the new standards; this is the one part I don’t understand.
    Thanks!!

Kimberly, the common anchor standards are aligned between all of the arts. So common anchor #9 is Apply Criteria to evaluate artistic work. That is a standard that applies to dance, drama, music, media arts, etc. Then when you go further into the EQ’s you will get more music specific language. Does that help?
Someone might have a different explanation, but this is how I read it.
