I have a drama club that meets after school and am trying to pick a good program for this year. As this is a drama club I want everyone to get a role (speaking or singing part). I can’t find any information on how many parts there are for the musical Dig It! Has anyone done this musical? How many individual roles are there? Did you like this musical for grades 3-5?
I actually used this with 5-7 grade students and they loved it! I think it would work out fine for younger kids as well. What is nice about this musical is that you can add a lot more to it. I needed a lot of speaking roles as well, so I added more characters from history and basically wrote the parts based on the strengths of my kids. The kids enjoyed researching their characters from history and coming up with costumes for cheap. Since I teach at a small charter school, it was ideal to use a show that is under an hour long because I wasn’t sure about how many kids would audition. It is very cute and fun! There are 15 speaking roles plus extra nonspeaking characters and 2 chorus groups as well. I also had all of the kids come out on stage for every song to sing. Hope this helps: )
I did Dig It! with my 3rd grade and they loved it! The classroom teachers loved it too because it tied into what they are teaching about ancient civilizations. I am not sure on the actual number of individual roles but there are quite a few of them. I was say atleast 20 speaking parts.
