I am looking to use GarageBand in my music classes (high school level guitar) but I don’t know where to start as far as creating lessons. I’ve played around with some ideas and you can see them here: http://musiced21.blogspot.com/ but I would like to get other viewpoints, especially from people who have already gone through this process.
    Thanks!

The NAfME journal General Music Today had an article on using GarageBand:
“See! Hear! Enhanced Podcasting With GarageBand,” by Rachel Nardo (Oct. 2009)

You might also find “Music Technology and Musical Creativity : Making Connections,” by Douglas Thompson (Apr. 2012) helpful.

I haven’t used it yet, but it is clearly where things are going. The article below points to some interesting possibilities:

Are you using the iPad or Desktop version? http://www.midnightmusic.com.au has offerings for using iPads in music education. It has great ideas for how to cover songs, composing your own, or fun general projects such as sound effects and ostinato patterns. The recording option for guitar is great for assessment and performing opportunities for the kids.
