    Greetings!

I’m in the process of forming a select mixed and women’s ensemble at the high school where I teach. As a fundraiser on Valentine’s Day, I would love to have other kids pay $1-2 to get the ensembles to sing a song for a significant other. What repertoire would you recommend? The kids are mostly freshmen and sophomores with one junior. They are very good and have good intonation, but I’d rather choose something easy.

    Thanks!

I have done this with Renaissance pieces. You will find some good lyrics about love and you don’t have to sing the entire song just go to a cadence point. They may be difficult but there are some in 2 parts that could work for you. You need to sing something that can be performed a cappella in order to move around. The issue I had with this was it interrupted other classes and I eventually had to stop as the other teachers didn’t appreciate it. It can be accomplished during lunch hours.
