    We are looking to set standards, literature lists, and assessment procedures for Guitar in Kentucky…. We have lots of guitar programs and growth throughout the state, but little organization to bring them together. We currently have access to Solo & Ensemble assessment at the District and State Level, and we are trying to expand into Large Ensemble assessment.

    Let’s hear from other states…. What opportunities does your MEA support? Solo, small ensemble, large ensemble, All-State? What literature lists do you use?


    Hi Don, In VA we have an all-state guitar. The literature that the group plays is chosen by the conductor. This year the conductor was Alan Hirsh. Here is a link to audition info:


    There are county guitar ensemble festivals in VA as well. Here’s a copy from the last year I worked in Fairfax County of the pieces various high schools performed.
