My trumpet and trombone players come in for their lesson sounding, to be honest, just plain awful. I use Essential Elements for my beginning students because of the CD that comes with the book. Being a trumpet player myself since 1974, I know how difficult it is for brass players to know if they are hitting the correct pitch. Essential Elements start them off on G instead of C for some unknown reason. The kids swear they are practicing, but I have a feeling they are practicing playing on C rather than G, thus, training their ear to associate the wrong pitch with the wrong note. Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve that the would like to share to help me correct this? Thanks!!
