Does anyone have a site or any treasure chest of ideas for creating ‘I Can’ statements for music? The web is stuffed with suggestions for English, Math and so on, but I can’t find any for music and would rather not reinvent the wheel.
I found this PDF file from a website. The “I can” statements are in a printable format for you to post around your room (pretty cool, ready to go). I will see if I can find any other ones. I honestly have to write my own to make mine district specific…but I understand not wanting to reinvent the wheel.

If you can’t copy and paste this link…try this So La Mi: Teaching Elementary Music Blog Spot…the website is below as well.

Good luck.

Bridget, those were most helpful. I’m creating curriculum right now during an inservice session. Thanks for taking the time to dig them out.
You are quite welcome. If you wish…check out our standards for our district and you can also build off of those. We just re-wrote our curriculum in 2011 and I do have those in PDF but they are not on the web. Let me see if I can figure out a way to get them to you. It’s better than reinventing the wheel.
The WCSD standards are here…these are from National and State standards that are tailored for our district’s expectations.

I would have sent these earlier, sorry! It’s been a crazy but great end of the year! Hope you are loving your inservice day–I am a geek who loves doing things like curriculum design! 🙂

This is the public site for our local scope and sequence. http://www.wcs.edu/curriculum/homepage.htm The elementary music brings in a lot of common core language and even pulls from CCSS directly (with the standard referenced next to the “I can” statement).
