Hi,
I am an experienced music teacher (this is my 18th year), but I am looking for a new General Music lesson plan template. I need something that is easy to use when I see the students only about twice a week. I have ones for when I taught band and choir and saw the kids everyday, but it hasn’t been easy to adapt it to the twice a week schedule.
Anyone have anything special they use or thoughts on how to create one?
Thanks!
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca!
My name is Val Ellett, and I’ve been teaching about 21 years now…. girl, this “lesson plan template” is just as weird for ME as it is for you! I can relate. The new standards are great, but getting them sorted out at the state level, and then your own DISTRICT level is a whole new bit of “fun”.
Our district has been busy working on applying the new NAfME standards (PLEASE!! see the cool stuff here on the main website!). As such, we’ve incorporated a “blank music template” for us to work off of. Certainly, there are TONS of things out there on the internet, if you google “elementary music lesson plan template” in images. But, you are welcome to use and abuse the one we’ve got. That goes for any of ya’ reading this!! Shoot me an email, and I’ll send you the PDF to alter as you see fit.
TRY and enjoy your last bits of summer!!

HI! Twice a week is awesome. Currently I see my kids once a week – whole school.
A lesson plan template I like was found on TPT (teachers pay teachers). There was a top section for Unit, date and grade level.
Main section for the body of the lesson, side boxes in which I put instruments I’d use and recorded music tracks (I called it mp3s) I planned on using. The bottom rectangle was for wrap-up / assessment.
Hope that helps.
Thanks! I’ll take a peak and see what I can find.
