The teach in only half a classroom and have no room for a piano. I would like to load instrumental (karaoke) accompaniments for the pop songs the choir sings. I would also like them to be legal. I would welcome any resources any of you may have found. “Make You Believe” (Lucy Hale) is the current one I am searching for.
Thank you!

Maria – you can often find minus tracks on iTunes. – you might also check with you local music retailer or JWPepper or Sheet Music Plus.
I have sometimes created minus tracks for my students solo work – but cant offer you a legal opinion on that kind of thing.
Best of luck!

Typically, if you can’t find a karaoke version song by doing a search in iTunes, Amazon mp3, or Spotify, there isn’t one available legally. I found this by doing a search: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYsZLiByBqk Maybe you can record it internally with Audacity and use it–probably not legal, but that might be your only option other than creating your own accompaniment track (and I didn’t see any sheet music available for that song, so you’d probably have to transcribe the song yourself).
You can use the iTunes karaoke. Is Music Alive Magazine still around? They always had great background music for featured pop songs they used.
What I do is make my own using sibelius. I input the piano part into sibelius and then you can export it as midi, mp3 or whatever you want. I also use the sibelius file with the ipad app called avid scorch which plays siblius files but also allows you to interact with the score. I pair my ipad with a bluetooth receiver and hook it to a receiver and some speakers so it plays wirelessly from the ipad. I made a youtube video about it if you want to check it out…
http://www.karaoke-version.com has many new titles for sale at about $2 per song.
