Middle School Chorus Scheduling

A school in my district would like to change choir from a full year course to a half year course.
What are the pros and cons?
Is there any hard evidence that full year is more beneficial to half year and where can I find that evidence?
I am unaware of any studies that demonstrate what I think we all instinctively know about continuity in instruction. I would ask the administration that proposes this change to describe how students in math and English have fared moving from full-year to half-year models.
