I would like to use Finale Notepad for a composition project with my 4th graders. The tech teacher says I should find an online notation program so the children can access it at home. Does anyone use any online, FREE notion programs?

As of this February, Finale Notepad is free again – I have a student using for a project right now. It’s stripped down from the full version of Finale, but it’s still good for most small projects. As far as free online programs go, Noteflight is pretty good. I have a friend that uses MuseScore, but I’ve never tried it.

LilyPond is also free. I haven’t tried it, but it’s worth a look: http://www.lilypond.org
