Your input would be appreciated on this…..

We will be having a pep rally for a football game, which will be covered by a local morning tv show. Our kids will need to be at school more than an hour and a half earlier than usual. The band, cheerleaders and dance team are required to attend, but the head football coach said no. He said it would make the day too long for the team and could inhibit their ability to perorm well.

Is this fare? Should I say something? The administration understands that I am mad, but I have not discussed it with them. My brain tells me to just shut it and let the kids enjoy being on TV. My gut tells me to stand up for my kids and let the admin know that the day will be just as long for my kids as the football team.

    Thoughts?

I say just go for it. Sure it’s a long day but don’t we all want a little press for our group? I’m sure the kids will enjoy the fact they’ll be on TV. It could be a fun event that will pay off in a big way with the community.

I agree, it could be good exposure for your kids and I imagine they would be excited about the opportunity to be on television.

My concern would be getting all my kids to the school that early in the morning and not having a full group to perform.

I would defintiely do it, because your band(especially with the football team not being there) should get a lot of attention. It should get interesting if the news crew questions why the football team wasn’t in attendance. I will definitely watch the newscast now. lol
