    Hey Everyone,
My school is starting the process of becoming S.T.E.M. certified (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and I would really like to push for us to go in the S.T.E.A.M. direction (add arts) for many, many reasons. However, I am having a hard time finding lesson ideas online. Besides the obvious connection of science & sound does anyone have any experience or know of any great S.T.E.A.M. resources/lesson plan ideas. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Look into the Kennedy Center Arts Integration activities. They are doing extensive presentations on this very topic.

There are great lessons/videos online for you to use via the Kennedy Center.

Also, you could look into the MetOpera Live in Schools series. I have been involved in this program for 3 years now and it integrates plot, literacy, geography, history, social studies, music, drama, etc. and is a phenomenal program. The link to that is:

I have taken students from 1st through 6th to the opera with lessons on character development, plot and sequence, etc. and the students LOVED it!

Also, if you look into the National Conference in October–two of my colleagues will be performing under the InOvations umbrella on Arts Integration. They were the instructors for a federal grant that our district received that spanned 3 years.

I wish I had more direct lesson plans to share with you, but hopefully this will get you started.
