I’m looking for some ways to modify my recorder curriculum for my 4th and 5th grade students with special needs. In the past, I have written the letters in on the staff and labeled fingerings (basically tried to reduce the number of steps required) with moderate success. Does anyone have other ideas? THANK YOU!!!!!
Color coding can help them be successful- get the paper hole protectors, color them with a marker, and put them around each hole, then colorcode notes accordingly.
You can also get “pre-corders” from yamaha that have raised holes, which can help. I’ve also had a student where we ended up taping over the thumb hole so that it was always closed, but that makes D impossible, of course.
