I’m curious about the impact of STEM or better yet, STEAM, in the schools so far. What activities or inspirations are out there for integrating science, technology, engineering and math into the music programs?

Currently I have two college students serving as Undergraduate Research Fellows in STEM. They have been accepted as Artists in Residence through our state council on the arts and will work in a high school this spring with a select choir to incorporate STEM teaching techniques and processes. They’ll use a Makey Makey (check out the banana piano on youtube!) to trigger a variety of sounds via body percussion to create a new genre of electroacoustic music in their ensemble.

Could anyone else see this as a way in for using technology in the music classroom?
