Help! I am a band director who has been assigned a ukulele class at our middle school for next year. I know a few chords on guitar and that’s about it. right now, I am in charge of purchasing ukuleles for this class and don’t know good brands from terrible ones. Soprano or tenor? Have any of you used ukuleles in a classroom setting? What types/brand works for you?
There are a number of things to consider. Soprano Ukes would be the cheapest. Remember you get what you pay for, don’t buy toys. Lanikai and Kala are good brands.
Sopranos are the smallest so they take the least amount of space to store. Baritone Ukes are tuned the same as the 1st 4 stings of a guitar (E, B, G, D) but they are bigger instruments. Ukes are the gateway drug to guitar!
