Kristen Rencher, Assistant Executive Director for Marketing Communications & Student Programs

Kristen Rencher (KristenR@nafme.org) serves as Assistant Executive Director for Marketing Communications & Student Programs, and has served the association for more than 8 years in a variety of roles. Kristen has spent her career building and developing member and student programs, facilitating engaging events, and fostering relationships with industry partners.

In her current role she oversees the Tri-M Music Honor Society, of which she is an alumna, the All-National Honor Ensembles, Music In Our Schools Month, composition competitions, NAfME Corporate Membership, the NAfME National Conference, and the Biennial Music Research and Teacher Education Conference. Most recently she worked to create a virtual All-National Honor Ensembles program during the COVID-19 pandemic and supported the development of virtual resources for NAfME members.

Having been largely influenced by her music and theatre teachers, she cares deeply about emphasizing the cultural value, role, and importance of the arts. Kristen is a lifelong learner in music. She plays the piano and sings in a local ensemble. Prior to serving at NAfME, Kristen worked in entertainment focusing on social media and brand marketing, and live events.

Kristen received her Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies and Business from Appalachian State University, has a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky, and is a graduate of the Executive Program in Arts and Culture Strategy from the National Arts Strategies and the University of Pennsylvania.
