Stephen Pickard is the band director at Governor John Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington, starting his 9th year of teaching. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees were obtained through Central Washington University, focused on conducting and instrumental music education, and has taught multiple concert band levels, jazz, percussion, orchestra, and beginning band. In the Puyallup School District, Stephen has served on multiple arts-related teams, including an Equity in Arts team that strives to reimagine the traditional music programs as well as creating new opportunities for all students to be involved in the Arts. At Rogers, bands work on building team-focused rehearsals, striving to work collaboratively in the rehearsal process and taking care of progress through peer reflection and engagement, received consistent superior ratings at festivals and contests, and have shared the stage with local universities and festival programs, such as Pacific Lutheran University and Seattle Pacific University.
Stephen is a sought-after clinician, serving students through events such as band festivals, competitions, as well as at various solo and ensemble contests. He has also presented several times at the Washington Music Educators Association. At the local region, Stephen has served in his local Music Educators Association, currently as Past President as well as Band Curriculum Officer.
Stephen is married seven years to Meghan Pickard and have two children, Dawson and Molly, where they happily reside in Puyallup, Washington.
