MENC Centennial

The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) was formerly known as the Music Educators National Conference (MENC).   In 2007, MENC celebrated one hundred years of advancing music education. Beginning with a small meeting of 104 music supervisors in Keokuk, Iowa, the organization grew to include music educators at all levels from prekindergarten to university, college students preparing to become music teachers, high school music honor society members, music industry representatives, music supervisors, and parents and community members who support our cause. With more than 130,000 members, what was once known as MENC is now known as NAfME, and it remains the world’s largest arts education association.

Thank you to all NAfME members and supporters for over 100 years of contributions to music education!
