A Message from the President of Minnesota Music Educators Conference about In-Person Conference Cancellation

As President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association, I want to share directly with our broader music community that MMEA has made the difficult decision to cancel in-person Midwinter Convention activities due to ongoing safety concerns. I know how much this gathering means to students, educators, and families, and this decision was not made lightly.

In response, we at MMEA are working quickly to create a meaningful virtual conference experience—one that still allows educators and students to connect, learn, and feel supported during this moment.

To make this possible, I am asking for support from the greater music community, particularly from those willing to offer virtual sessions for music educators. Session topics and formats are open and may reflect the presenter’s area of expertise or interest. While financial compensation may not be available, all contributions will be received with deep appreciation and handled with care and respect.

Support is most needed during the following window: Friday–Sunday, February 12–14 | 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM (CT)

Those interested in contributing a virtual session or offering support are invited to email: forms@mmea.org

Due to the rapid turnaround, MMEA will be fielding and responding to inquiries through Thursday, February 5. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding given the condensed timeline.

There is absolutely no pressure to participate. All offers will be reviewed and accommodated to the best of our ability. This invitation is rooted in community, generosity, and care for music educators and students.

With gratitude,

Christopher Rochester
President, Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA)
