The 2014 Collegiate Advocacy Summit was an incredible event, filled with engaged—and engaging!—music education majors. Our next teachers and leaders for music education advocacy.
Fifty students from Central Washington University, Michigan State University, Shenandoah University, James Madison University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Berklee College of Music, University of Alabama, and many more schools converged on Capitol Hill to join their state MEA leaders to advocate for music education. And then this incredible group of students met at NAfME headquarters for advocacy training which they took back to their collegiate chapters to use in their home states.
And they also left something behind: great ideas and recommendations to make this year’s Collegiate Advocacy Summit even better! This is capacity building. These are your peers and future colleagues.
This is your time to lead in supporting your profession as music educators!
Listen to what NAfME Collegiate Member Vanessa Bliley of Central Washington University has to say about why YOU should come to D.C.
