About the Event

Join the NAfME Advocacy and Public Policy team and experienced music educators as they share practical strategies and address real-world challenges such as lack of support, overwhelming responsibilities, engaging others, and sustaining momentum year-round. This session will equip attendees with tools and resources to champion music education in their schools and communities.

Amanda Karhuse

Amanda Karhuse is the assistant executive director for advocacy and public policy at NAfME where she works with policymakers and key stakeholders to promote music as an integral and core component of a well-rounded education. In this role, she coordinates all federal and state policy and advocacy efforts for NAfME, which includes lobbying, coalition-building activities, and strengthening the capacity of music education advocates.

Jazzmone Sutton HeadshotJazzmone Sutton has served as the Senior Manager for State Advocacy and Equity at the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) since July 2021. Before joining the NAfME staff, she was a passionate elementary music educator and advocate based in North Carolina and served as the North Carolina Music Educators Association President. As State Advocacy Engagement Manager, Sutton works to strengthen the connection between our state affiliates, their members, and educational stakeholders via proactive advocacy work.

NAfME presents this live virtual event at no charge to all as a service to the music education profession.
