About the Event
Engage your students and energize your classroom as you introduce diverse books into your program. This webinar will help you to develop Culturally Responsive Instructional Music Practices (CRIMP) that address the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students without sacrificing your musical integrity.
Anne Smith is a K-5 General Music Teacher in Alexandria, Virginia, where she also serves as an Equity Liaison, Poetry Liaison, and New Teacher Mentor. A published author, composer, poet and playwright, she studied music therapy, voice, and piano at Howard University, earned an M.A. from Regent University, and holds an Ed. S and an ED. D in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. Smith currently serves on the VMEA DEI Committee and the National Education Association Diversity and Inclusion Council and is a member of the D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice. She was recently selected to participate in a multi-year project through NAfME’s Connected Arts Networks (CAN) program and frequently presents workshops at local, state, and national conferences.
