About the Event

Take a webinar voyage in the uncharted waters known as “Preschool Music Class!” The need for early childhood programs has increased in the US and many school districts are benefiting from funding to offer early intervention programs for preschool-aged students in-house. For many teachers, starting a PreK music program may seem daunting! This webinar will offer practical strategies for teaching PreK music through several music education approaches and demonstrate key activities needed for musical development in early childhood. The National Standards for Music in PreK, as well as learning standards for early childhood will be highlighted throughout the presentation.

Nichole Witman teaches PreK-2 general music for the Elizabethtown Area School District in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. She assists the Donegal High School Marching Band and is the director of Up Beat!, a free preschool music program for the Elizabethtown Area community. Nichole has completed all her Kodály and Orff certification levels, as well as courses in Feierabend’s First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege. She is the past president of Kodály Educators of Eastern Pennsylvania (KEEP) and has also served as the KEEP curriculum/workshop chair.
