About the Event
Do you know what somatic education is? In this webinar, you will learn about the fundamentals of somatic education and some of the basic aspects of movement study as it relates to practice and performance. Have you ever wondered what creates an effortless movement, ease of technical skills, or a beautiful sound without strain and worry? Somatic education principles are the foundation of any healthy technical proficiency or expressivity without limitations. The Association for Body Mapping Education, The Alexander Technique, and The Feldenkrais Method are but a few of the somatic education branches that have helped thousands of performing artists and sportsmen take their performance to the next level and help avoid injury and pain from misuse. Sections of the webinar will discuss balance, our body’s core, the body map, and our senses, how we receive information about our movement and breathing, what is breath support, how learning about our body and body map helps us create more efficient movement and, in return, better technique and sound. Don’t forget: Sound is movement, music is movement!
