Give a Note Foundation Announces 2016 Music In Our Schools Tour III
Contest for Music Teachers

December 17, 2015 (Reston, VA)—Radio Disney on-air personality Brooke Taylor joined Give a Note President and Board Chair Beth Slusher on October 25 to announce the partnership for the third annual Music In Our Schools Tour. Brooke and Beth delivered the exciting news to teachers from around the nation at the 2015 National Association for Music Education (NAfME) National In-Service Conference in Nashville, TN.

Music In Our Schools Month® or “MIOSM®” is NAfME’s annual celebration during March which engages music educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools.

Brooke Taylor and Beth Slusher celebrated the first two Music In Our Schools tours with Danielle Bradbery (2014) and RaeLynn (2015), followed by an announcement about the 2016 tour. This third tour will reach six schools across the nation. Thanks to a partnership with Radio Disney, this tour will have a farther reach than ever before. The first two tours were conducted by a charter bus; whereas the third tour will incorporate fly-in visits.

“I could not be more excited about where this partnership will take us, and which schools we will now be able to reach,” said Beth Slusher. “Give a Note celebrates and supports school music programs around the country to highlight the importance of all programs and the need for funding. We are so grateful to Radio Disney for their partnership with us in this important work.”

To enter for a chance to be one of the six schools awarded a grant during the 2016 Music In Our Schools Tour, schools need to submit a 30- to 60-second video of their ensemble performing a song that inspires them—it could be a school song, a planned performance, even a piece from the 2016 Concert for Music In Our Schools Month® repertoire. Visit bit.ly/2016MIOStour for contest rules and submission details. The deadline to submit video entries is January 11, 2016.
