Harley Goes to Montana

Harley–The TRI-M Mascot at Legoland in California

Harley, the TRI-M Mascot is going to Montana this week to be at the Montana Music Educator’s Conference in Great Falls, Montana.  He’ll be traveling with Victoria Chamberlin, Director of Strategic Relationships and Development from the National Office of NAfME and Patrick Barnett, National Chair for the TRI-M Music Honor Society as they promote both TRI-M and NAfME at the State-Wide Montana Convention.  Check back next week to see where Harley trekked during his visit.

Harley, named after our society’s founders, Alexander and Frances Harley was produced during the mid 2000’s.  Unfortunately, they are no longer available for purchase.  When he was first introduced, there was a contest called “Where’s Harley” in which chapters would take pictures of the stuffed animal around the country and then submit them for publication in TRI-M News.  One NAfME staff member in Reston, Virginia has traveled around the world with her Harley.  Harley has even been there during both difficult and happy times during her life.  He’s well worn and quite a testament to our founders whose tireless work laid the foundations for our society some fifty years ago.

Do you have one of these treasured Harleys in your school?  I would love to hear where your Harley is hiding.
