In Memoriam: MENC Acknowledges Recent Member Deaths

Throughout the year, state music educators associations, family members and other sources notify MENC of the deaths of members.

One recent death of note was Joseph R. Sugar, past president of the New York State School Music Association and a past MENC Eastern Division President. His music education career spanned more than 50 years as both a music educator and music education advocate.

MENC acknowledges the death of Sugar and the following members for their years of service to the profession of music education. As of March 17, MENC has been notified of the following deaths:
