Amir Jones is a music educator from Concord Township, Ohio. He is a 2006 graduate of Riverside High School, subsequently earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Education in Educational Business Administration. Since joining Painesville City Local Schools in 2007, he has served as: Assistant Band Director, Band Director, Music Department Chair, District AV Coordinator, and Auditorium Manager. In addition to his educational occupations, he is a pianist at First Church Congregational, Music and Media director at St. John Baptist Church, and is an independent media consultant specializing in professional audio, video, and networking.
Amir has served on the board of directors for the Downtown Painesville Organization and was the Youth Advisor for the Lake County Branch NAACP.
His teaching has been recognized with multiple awards, including: the Head of Class-Cleveland Cavaliers Teacher Award (2016, 2022), the Francis Jennings Casement Award, the NAACP Selma C Hall Educational Award (2019), the Yamaha 40 under 40 Music Teacher Award (2022), induction into the Riverside Alumni Hall of Fame (2024) and the Barry Manilow Music Educator Award (2024). He was Grammy Nominated Quarterfinalist in 2022, and is a current 2024 Quarterfinalist.
Amir’s work has been featured on Spectrum News, Fox 8, ABC 5, and NBC 3, highlighting his impact on music education and community unity.
