Dr. Crystal Lynn Gerrard-Ramirez is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. She previously held middle school band teaching positions in Texas. Dr. Gerrard-Ramirez holds degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington (BM), Southern Methodist University (MM), and The Ohio State University (PhD). Her research interests include asset-based practices; social justice in music education; issues of marginalization and underrepresentation in music education; and critical issues in music teacher education.

Dr. Gerrard-Ramirez has presented research at state, national, and international venues including the International Society for Music Education World Conference, the NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education Conference, the Society for Music Teacher Education Symposium, the MayDay Colloquium, and the Texas Music Educators Association Conference. Her publications can be found in the Journal of Research in Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, and Equity and Excellence in Education. She currently serves on the editorial board for Contributions to Music Education and the advisory committee for Music Educators Journal.
