Daryl W. Kinney, Associate Professor and Area Head of Music Education, joined the music education faculty at The Ohio State University in 2005 and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in instrumental music education, research, data analysis and design. Kinney’s research interests are in music and non-music outcomes of formalized music instruction (e.g., academic achievement), access to school music, music cognition, program evaluation, and music teacher education.

His research can be found in the Journal of Research in Music EducationBulletin of the Council for Research in Music EducationJournal of Music Teacher EducationInternational Journal of Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, and Empirical Musicology Review. He has also served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Music Teacher Education and Contributions to Music Education.
