Edward McClellan is the Rita O. Huntsinger Distinguished Professor of Music, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at Loyola University New Orleans. Dr. McClellan is a member of the Editorial Boards for the International Journal of Music Education, Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education, and Music Educators Journal. He has published research in the Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, Visions of Research in Music Education, and Music Educators Journal.

Dr. McClellan is member of the Steering Committee of the International Society for Sociology of the Music Education, Louisiana State Chair of the Society of Research in Music Education (SRME), Louisiana State Chair of the Society of Music Teacher Education (SMTE), and Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) Collegiate Division Chair of the National Association for Music Education. He is also former Chair of the Social Sciences Special Research Interest Group (SRIG) and Perception and Cognition Special Research Interest Group (SRIG) for the National Association for Music Education. Recently, Dr. McClellan released his book The Psychology of Teaching and Learning Music by Routledge, Taylor and Francis Group in the summer of 2023.
