Karin S. Hendricks is Associate Professor of Music Education at Boston University, where she received the university’s 2023 Metcalf Cup and Prize for Excellence in Teaching. She has published numerous research articles and scholarly book chapters in top-tier journals and leading presses. She has also published seven books including Compassionate Music Teaching, Performance Anxiety Strategies, four edited volumes on music and wellbeing, and the Oxford Handbook of Care in Music Education. She has served as President-Elect, Secretary, and Research Committee Chair for the American String Teachers Association and on Editorial Committees for the Journal of Research in Music Education and Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education.

Prior to university teaching, Karin enjoyed a successful 13-year public school teaching career. She was “Secondary Teacher of the Year” for the Utah Chapter of the American String Teachers Association; “Teacher of the Year” at Logan High School; and was a recipient of the United States Presidential Scholar Teacher Recognition Award.  She is active nationally and internationally as an instrumental music clinician and adjudicator, and gives regular lectures on music learning, motivation, and performance.
