Michaela Babic teaches General and Secondary Vocal Music at Bridgeport Public Schools where she has created an elementary ukulele program, children’s choir, junior high show choir, and award winning vocal ensembles at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She has previously held similar positions at Yutan and Bayard Public Schools.

Michaela received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and has been teaching for 18 years. She is an active clinician and adjudicator, and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Nebraska Music Education Association (NMEA) as the Director of Choral Affairs, and is the District 6 Representative for the Nebraska Choral Directors Association (NCDA). Michaela has also served as a member of NMEA’s Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion (DEIA) Committee, and has worked toward creating equity for all, small and rural schools in particular, within the organization. Michaela also serves as a founding member of the NMEA Small and Rural Schools Initiative, which is working toward creating systems for connection and support for teachers in rural areas. She is passionate about mentorship for beginning educators, and has presented sessions on the topic at the NMEA Convention.

Michaela comes from a family of music educators including her mother, 2 siblings, and husband. In addition to her work with her “kids” at school, Michaela is always busy chasing her three biological children: Ben (15), Sam (13) and Mayzie (10).
