More Than Just a Competition!

The deadline for the 2014 NAfME Student Composers Competition is approaching fast: The submission deadline is February 15, 2014.

Up to ten selected compositions will be performed at the NAfME National In-Service Conference in Nashville, Tennessee in October 2014, and the winning composers will receive cash awards of $150.

Detailed competition rules and entry directions.

But this competition is more than just a competition, because all of the student composers receive thoughtful written evaluations of their compositions.

The evaluations are written by a team of talented composers and composition teachers. They provide constructive feedback and help the students to gain analytic insight into their compositions. The evaluations also include useful tips and pointers for future growth.

Many students, teachers, and parents have contacted NAfME to tell us how helpful the evaluations have been to the student composers and their teachers.

The evaluations and competition prize awards are made possible by the generous support of the European American Musical Alliance (Dr. Philip Lasser, president) and the Double R Foundation.
