Good Work: NAfME’s Collegiate Chapters Demonstrate Work of Excellence


The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) announces the winners of its annual Collegiate Chapter of Excellence awards. In all, universities and colleges from 17 states submitted 44 chapter projects to be considered for a Chapter of Excellence Award this year.

 The chapters completed projects in the four categories of Music Program, Professional Development, Recruitment, and Service. Advisors from each chapter submitted written summaries describing the projects.

 The First Place chapters will each receive a subscription to NAfME’s Learning Network.

  • Music Program1st place winner is Boise State University, with honorable mentions for the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, and the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.
  • Professional Development – 1st place winner is Indiana University in Bloomington, with honorable mentions for Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, and Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee
  • Recruitment – 1st place winner is Baldwin Wallace, with honorable mentions for Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
  • Service – 1st place winner is Elon University, with honorable mentions for the University of Michigan in Flint, and California State University at Chico. 

 An advocacy category will be added for the 2015 Chapter of Excellence awards.
