Chad Rose is entering his twenty sixth year in music education and is currently in his
fifth year as the Director of Bands at Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyoming. He
grew up in the county seat of the least populated county in the least populated state in the
United States, which is Lusk, Wyoming, where his parents were both career music educators.
Mr. Rose graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of
Wyoming in 1999, a Masters of Arts Degree in Music Education from the University of Wyoming
in 2007, and a Masters of Science Degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University in
2019.
Mr. Rose is a Past-President for the Wyoming Music Educators Association and has
served as a member of the Northwest Board for NAfME. He has filled seats on the
board of directors for the Wyoming Worlds of Music Council and has served numerous
board positions with both the WMEA and the Wyoming Jazz Educators. In the WJE, he
has been Jazz Band Chair, Jazz Choir Chair and Treasurer. For the WMEA, he has
served as District Vice President, Marching Band Chair, Band Vice President and
President. In his various board positions, Mr. Rose has been responsible for selecting
honor bands and choirs and playing a pivotal role in organizing six state WMEA
Conferences.
Mr. Rose is a member of Phi Beta Mu, and in 2019, he was recognized by the Wyoming
Chapter for their Bandmaster of the Year Award. He is a three-time Grammy
Foundation Quarterfinalist for the Grammy Educator of the Year Award. In 2017, Chad
received the Master Teacher award from Washakie County School District. In 2022, he
represented Sheridan High School in the Tournament of Roses Parade as he marched in the
Saluting America’s Band Directors Marching Band. Also in 2022, School Band & Orchestra
Magazine recognized Mr. Rose as one of their 50 Directors Who Make a Difference. in 2024
he was recognized by the Wyoming Jazz Educators as the State Jazz Educator of the
Year. In addition, he has been a 6-time conference coach of the year in Golf and has served the
Wyoming Coaches Association board as Golf Chair, with 6 conference championships and 3
state runner-up finishes. He has also served his students through coaching Basketball,
Football, and Soccer.
Mr. Rose has performed throughout the Rocky Mountain Region as vocalist and
trombone player. He is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator, having judged festivals and
directed honor bands in Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota. He has owned
several businesses in the entertainment industry, which he is proudly passing to the next
generation. He enjoys sharing the numerous outdoor opportunities that Wyoming has to offer
with his wife Jennifer and his three musical children Chloe, Marshall, and Maverick.
