The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) strives to provide specific, relevant, and directly applicable professional development to its membership. The annual National In-Service Conference is by far the crown jewel of what NAfME has to offer in terms of professional development.
What fills the void of the conference the other 51 weeks of the year? Professional Development Webinars.
“I have found it easy to find general education hours, classroom management hours, online courses on ADHD and Autism but, have not found anywhere, except NAfME, to receive quality music [professional development] hours.”
Currently, one can find 39 hours of archived webinars to fill in the gaps. Jenny Hipp, a NAfME member from Texas, has done that exact thing. In April alone, Jenny has received 7 hours of professional development credit by viewing webinars and completing corresponding quizzes.
“I have found it easy to find general education hours, classroom management hours, online courses on ADHD and Autism but, have not found anywhere, except NAfME, to receive quality music [professional development] hours,” Hipp said.
These archived webinars are truly an invaluable resource for pre-service teachers, young professionals, and the veteran teacher alike. Being an inexpensive, online, resource, delivers professional development to the hands of music teachers rather than the teacher having to wait for state, division, or national conferences.
Now it’s your turn to share that expertise with your fellow music educators. NAfME would like to share the wide variety of professional knowledge among members, and we encourage you to submit a proposal to present a webinar.
The process is fairly simple. Once you know what you would like to share, simply complete the survey. All webinar proposals are peer reviewed by the Professional Development Committee before being recorded and produced.
