On Thursday July 11, the National Association for Music Education (NAFME) will participate in a SupportMusic webinar and teleconference focusing on NAfME’s recent Hill Day visits to elected officials on Capitol Hill. Tennessee advocacy efforts also are on the agenda.
The webinar will be at 11:30 a.m. PT and 2:30 p.m. ET, on July 11 and will be held in conjunction with the NAMM Summer Show held this week in Nashville, Tennssee. NAfME and NAMM lead the Support Music coalition.
Chris Woodside, NAfME Assistant Executive Director, Center for Advocacy & Public Affairs, will recap the advocacy day outreach. On June 28 NAfME’s national leaders visit U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators asked for support for music education, in particular for current legislation that aims to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA).
Woodside will also discuss current ESEA re-authorization developments.
Laurie Schell, director of Music Makes Us will discuss Nashville’s Music Makes Us Music Education Reinstatement Effort.
