About the Event
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is an integral part of the music classroom and is important for all students. This session will give participants various activities/resources for the elementary music classroom, and ideas for implementing SEL content areas directly into music-making.
Christopher Cavarretta, a full-time public school music teacher, is known for his dedication to music education. At PS/IS 121 in South Brooklyn, a NEST school that promotes inclusive education, he instructs students in general music, beginner string ensembles, and guitar methods. His wealth of experience includes conducting the Brooklyn Summer Camp Orchestra with the Harmony Program in 2023, where he led instruction with students in 4th to 8th grade, guiding them through culturally relevant and responsive repertoire. Christopher is also an assistant conductor of the premiere Litha Symphony, a summer community orchestra.
