Former Drum Major Christine Norton of Middle Township, New Jersey, passed the band shako to Turner in front of 25,000 marching fans at the Drum Corps International World Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Jaclyn will lead the All-American Marching Band during the halftime of the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Saturday, January 9th, 2010. The game will be played in Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas, and broadcast live on NBC.
Martin Dickey, Jaclyn’s music teacher from Nation Ford High School, is an MENC member.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the premier high school football game in the nation. Produced by SportsLink, it features the nation’s top high school senior football players and marching musicians.
If named to the All-American Marching Band, students receive an all expenses-paid trip to San Antonio to march in the halftime performance of the All-American Bowl. A national selection tour begins in October, and through the tour students and their schools receive media recognition.
MENC partners with Drum Corps International, the U.S. Army, and SportsLink in producing the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
