Call for Nominations: Editor and Editorial Board
for Journal of Music Teacher Education
Editor: Journal of Music Teacher Education
The Journal of Music Teacher Education, a publication of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), is seeking nominations for the position of Editor. Duties begin on July 1, 2016, and continue through June 30, 2022.
Deadline for application materials: February 1, 2016.
Qualifications
- Be a member of the Society for Music Teacher Education (Any NAfME member who selects Teacher Education as their professional teaching area is a member of SMTE.)
- Be a professional educator of music teachers who is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research, evidenced by active participation in the field of music teacher education.
- Have the expertise and be able to commit the necessary time to carry out the duties of the position.
- Have the support of your employing institution in terms of release time, facilities, and materials necessary to carry out the duties of the position for the entire length of the position’s term.

- Provide a letter indicating your interest in the position including your vision for JMTE, and a statement that you can fulfill the duties required of the position.
- Provide complete vitae that characterize your qualifications for the position.
- Obtain three letters of support e-mailed directly to jmte@ttu.edu from nationally recognized individuals in music teacher education.

Editorial Review Board: Journal of Music Teacher Education
The Journal of Music Teacher Education seeks nominations for three new members of the editorial review board. Duties begin July 1, 2016 and continue through June 30, 2022.
Deadline for application materials: February 1, 2016.
Qualifications
- Be a member of the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE). All NAfME members who select Teacher Education as their professional teaching area are SMTE members.
- Be a professional educator of music teachers who is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research, evidenced by active participation in the field of music teacher education.
- Have the expertise and time commitment necessary to carry out duties as described.
- Document sustained interest and publication in music teacher education.
- Maintain regular participation at national conferences of SMTE and NAfME
Responsibilities
- Attend Editorial Committee meetings and activities (biennially in conjunction with the SMTE Symposium for Music Teacher Education and the NAfME national conference on Music Research and Teacher Education).
- Act as reviewer of manuscripts submitted to JMTE in a blind review process.
- Consider all valid scholarly perspectives and respond with thorough written reviews of manuscripts in a timely manner (approximately 2-3 per month).
