Dr. Alicia C. Vorel serves as Director of Music Education at East Tennessee State University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate music education majors. She served previously at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and with the St. Louis Children’s Choirs. She earned the Bachelor in Music Education at Mercer University, the MM degree in Music Education from Texas Tech University, and the PhD from the University of Mississippi.  Dr. Vorel is an experienced educator focusing primarily on general music and choirs across a variety of settings, from early childhood to adulthood.  She has presented at numerous state, regional, national, and international conferences on topics related to soprano-alto choir identity, turn-of-the-nineteenth-century music educators and singing schools, authentic context learning, and feedback. She has been a conductor for multiple children’s and soprano-alto honor choirs in the South and Midwest.  An award-winning researcher, her publications have appeared in various practitioner and research journals.
